A Closer Look at 3 of My Favorite Highland Park Neighborhoods

Favorite Highland Park IL Neighborhoods

Highland Park is one of Chicago's most sought-after suburban communities. The schools are tremendous, access to downtown is quick and easy, and community amenities are plentiful. But just where should prospective home buyers start a search in a location that seemingly has it all?

Well, there are certainly worse options than these 3 amazing Highland Park neighborhoods, which truly among my favorite communities in town.

Woodlands

Woodlands is a neighborhood of single-family homes found in Highland Park, Illinois. Many homes in the neighborhood tend to have four or more bedrooms, and sometimes they include more than three-baths. Constructed around the early to mid 1980s, homes in the Woodlands neighborhood generally offer around 2,800 to 3,000 square feet of living space. You’ll find that homes in this part of Highland Park are well maintained. Some of them are single-level homes, while there are also some two-story homes for buyers to consider.

Because of the age of the homes, you’ll find the neighborhood offers tall trees and established landscaping. The Woodlands neighborhood sits within walking distance of area schools, plus some of them are virtually surrounded by open space, providing another level of privacy for homebuyers searching in this part of Highland Park.

Highland Park IL Real Estate

East Highland Park

East Highland Park consists mostly of large single-family homes in Highland Park, Illinois. This established neighborhood provides some homes dating back to the 1980s, with four or more bedrooms and more than 4,000 square feet of living space. There are also, however, some homes in East Highland Park that were built closer to the 1920s. For this reason, buyers will find a variety of different home styles to choose from in East Highland Park, from Craftsman-style homes to colonials, Mid-Century-era homes to Georgians.

Some of the homes come with fully finished basements, providing enough space to create a rec room or other flexible living space. The neighborhood of East Highland Park sits only about a mile from the Metra, plus close to area shops, restaurants, schools, and the beach. As well, the neighborhood also sits close to walking and biking trails and close to Downtown Highland Park.

Ravinia

Ravinia is a neighborhood of mostly single-family homes found in Highland Park, Illinois. Buyers will find a large number of four- and five-bedroom homes in the area, but some of the homes are even larger than that. It’s common to find homes in the neighborhood that were built around the mid-century mark, but some of them were constructed prior to the 1940s, too. For this reason, you’ll find some truly charming features with the homes of Ravinia, including hardwood floors and a woodburning fireplace.

As well, many of the homes have been updated with modern features in recent years, such as stainless-steel appliances. Some homes include a private backyard for additional living space. Ravinia offers its own neighbors association, plus homes in this part of Highland Park sit close to the Metra, area schools and shopping.
